Garden tarmacing and paving
I hired hardstone drive for tarmacing my very large garden. Tony went through the work and gave me a very reasonable quote for the work. He told me it would take about 4 days but finished within 3. The crew started very early and straight to work, They were very professional right from the start to finish and kept me informed all the way through. The work is of high standard and I would definitely recommend them to friends and family. My transformed garden has already been complemented by my neighbors and a family member is planning on hiring them.

Beautiful driveway for 3 cars.
Brilliant work done by Hardstone Drives for 3 car parking space. Much Better than expected. Cleverly done the slope as matching with neighbours driveway. beautiful borders with Indian stone. Saves me £1500 from my highest quote. Only issue was Planed to pay at end but had to pay some money at middle of the work. brilliant team of father and son. I will hire them again. Really recommend.

Paving/surfacing of ex-lawn (large area)
Tony (Hardstone Drives) very punctually presented to see my job – more than 200 sq metres of wild garden to be paved. The job was logistically very ‘uncomfortable’. Tony had a good look, and I could see he definitely knew what he was talking about. Following a the evaluation he gave me a quote. He started the work on a Saturday morning 8am (!), and continued on Sunday. He promised to be done well within the week! I did not believe that!! Anyways, Tony is very hands-on, punctual and straight forward. He is very hardworking, and did not lie one bit. He managed the logistics of the supply such that we never noticed such big work in our backyard. Even on one day when work could not be done due to torrential rain, he was here at 7 in the morning just to inform me and to also take delivery of the blocks. He has a good hardworking team that works very well together. Tony paid attention to small details, again something impossible if one is not present at site all times. In 5 working days he handed me our backyard wonderfully paved with very good gravel at the end. Needless to say, we have been very satisfied with the work and Tony’s conduct. Such work ethic these days is unheard of. I am definitely having him back for any future work we may have. And yes, he has charged us very reasonably.

Patio and turf - front and rear of property
Very impressed! We asked for some block paving to the front and side of our property and also patio to the rear in Indian Sandstone. I can’t believe how fast and efficient the team were who attended to carry out the works, all very polite and professional. Overall very happy with the job and would definitely recommend.

Update & extend existing drive
Had a massive tree stump to be removed along with garden wall. Line up the drive accurately along the boundaries. Steps to be removed and levelled off, included tarmacing the whole lot with a nice brick border. Didn’t have to chase at all, was constantly kept in the loop. Happy with the service and already recommeded to a friend. Please note you will not be asked for anything upfront, may have to make a part payment mid way to cover some materials but I was not alarmed as was aware due to reading other reviews prior to hiring. Job done within 4 days as promised by Tony & Jerry, honest, hardworking fellas. Very happy thank you lads!

Front garden to block paving for car 3M x 3.5M
Friendly and very fast service, turned up with another two guys and the job was completed perfectly within a day. Turned my front garden into car parking. The area was bigger then originally quoted but got on and finished it without asking for extra cash. Even brought a little digger, I am sure a lot of other guys would dig by hand, this saved a lot of time. Very honest and genuine guy, 100% recommended.

Hired Tony to install some artificial grass and some Block Paving on a part of the back Garden. To say I’m happy is an understatement from beginning to the end everything was very transparent if any changes were required I was phoned up each step of the way. Removal and replace patio and turf, with new water pipe
Jerry dug up 8 inches deep of old patio and soil, laid 20ft of Indian slab patio and 25ft grass for me in my back garden, then desposed of all the waste. He also kindly laid some piping for me and filled a hole I had in the garage. Work was very quick and efficiant, and the whole team were great. I would recommend to anyone looking to get some work done.

Garden project
Our garden was tricky because of the slope and the patio area was small with damaged surface. I wanted to get rid of the old path, level the garden as much as possible, extend the patio area and rearrange the borders. After three days, my garden is transformed. I cannot recommend these guys enough because they did such an amazing job. Tony gave good advice and helped me with my vision to get the desired outcomes. The patio area is brick paved beautifully and the new turf is laid really well. They didn’t cut any corners and left everything tidy. THANKS A LOT.

Absolutely first rate tradesman – Tony and his team turned up exactly when he said they would, did the job for the price quoted, within the timescale given. Completed driveway (tarmac and brick border to replace rubbish crazy paving) looks great! Very knowledgeable, excellent attention to detail, sorted out the couple of tiny niggles really quickly. New garden to driveway conversion
After posting my job advert, I received a response within 30 minutes from Hardstone Drives and this set the tone for the remainder of the job. They came and visited me the same day to assess the job and supply a quote. I accepted and they started work the following week. Originally quoting three days work, their hard work completed it within 2 days with no disruption to myself. The workers were very polite and extremely hard working. My communications with Tony were second to none and he reassured me through all stages and made sure I was 100% happy before they left. I definitely believe I have received excellent value for money. Two small and classic landscaped gardens
I am absolutely delighted with the work performed by Tony Cawley and his staff over the past two weeks. In just 6 days they have removed two lawned gardens and replaced them with the most impressive decorative and multi-toned block paving. They also solved a water-seepage landscape problem where land leaning against my garage wall was allowing water to leak into the garage. This winters excessive rain made the work imperative to undertake and Tony’s long experience in this matter came up with the perfect solution. His staff dug out the soil (manually), installed a plastic membrane and a duct pipe to divert future water seepage into a drain, then replaced the soil without any problem. He built new garden walls to match existing and finally preacher treated my existing block paved drive and walls. The outside of my house now gleams. The quote was acceptable and the work exemplary. Tony was real great. Talked about what we wanted and advised on alternative options. Team was on time every morning and left only when finished for the day. Had a very friendly and respectful team. They left the surrounding areas (pathway+road) clean and safe also took all waste with them every day. Job ran over thanks to the British weather with no complaints. Brilliant company. All the team worked so hard. They have created a lovely new patio area, extended existing patio, built a long planter and boarded up a fence that the neighbours could see through. They were arrived early in the morning and worked all day. We were asked at all different stages if we were happy with the job. Even when I’d made a mistake about the colour of something they were happy to make the change with no issue The finish of the job is beautiful! 2 car block brick layering driveway required
First of all me and husband would like to give a big thanks to Tony and his team for doing an amazing job on our driveway and patio. I was abit skeptical at first hiring someone without recommendations but after struggling to find someone I got told about this website and invited a few people down including Tony for a quote. I got a good vibe from Tony and could sense he knew what he was talking about. We agreed on a price after and he told me when he could start on the job. Didn’t lead me on and as promised him and his team came down when he said they would as we wanted this done as soon as possible. His team (Martin and the rest) got stuck in straight away and managed to get a lot done on the first day which surprised me. They managed to complete the job in 4 days which was amazing when I expected it to take Atleast a week or so. His team were very friendly, very efficient and just got on with the job which made our lives easier. Any questions I had about block paving or anything I didn’t understand Tony explained it to me clearly and throughly. He was honest with me about everything which I really appreciate. The block paving guys from Manchester were brilliant too so thank you to them for doing an amazing and quick job. If you are looking to hire someone for your driveway/patio then you defo need to hire Tony and his team! Paving doing about 18sqm
Jerry and the two lads have just finished laying new paving and turf, arrived early on the day arranged and they worked very hard non stop. Would highly recommend him. Price was very good for the work involved, my front garden looks lovely. When I need any more work doing I will be ringing him.

Large garden to gravel, fencing and rewalling
We employed Hardstone drives to landscape a large outdoor area to the side and rear of our property. The communication was good and he was able to do it in a timely fashion. We had a large area graveled, a new lawn installed, some tarmac paths installed and renewed and fencing was also installed to sub-divide the space. On the positive i was happy with the new lawn and the fencing was good. Unfortunately the gravel that was installed was not a decorative gravel but rather the cheaper sub-base/MOT material and looks cheap despite reassurances it wouldnt. This is not what was requested. There is no weed suppressant membrane installed either under the “gravel” which means that plants are already growing through the gravel despite it only being down for a couple of months. The new tarmac paths are so far holding up but there were no edging stones used and so “gravel” ends up on the paths. A significant quantity of domestic rubbish was also left on site which coincided with them doing the work. Overall not satisfied with what i got for the money i paid.

Tony and the crew from Hardstone drives were honestly the best. All the work was completed within 3 and a half days which consisted of Tarmac the front drive and complete landscaping the back garden with fences, fence posts, gravel boards, hardcoring the floor, new drainage, gate access to the back. The quality of materials was the best. He never cut any corners in the work and I would offer people to have a look at my work if they are unsure to hire tony for the work because you will be very confident! I chose hardstone drives because I had a bad experience with a previous landscaper who were very unprofessional and left me in a position where i had no fences in my back garden and had no tools or manpower to do the job. Unfortunately, it cost me a chunk but luckily i reposted the job on my builder and tony accepted my invite and quoted me the next day..He priced me extremely reasonably and till this day everyone that comes compliments the garden work! Tony was exceptional in dealing with our difficult gardens back and front, the front garden slope taken out to make a drive, and a dual-level back garden. What a genuine and trustworthy gent Tony is. He and his team blitzed our job in 3 days and we’re over the moon with the result and the stress-free experience. Tony’s goal was to do a good job – nothing was too much trouble. Fixed price, no hidden costs and various tweaks happily made to ensure we got what we wanted (and because I think he’s a perfectionist too!). Importantly he consulted us throughout on things that would make a difference to the end result (spacing between pavers, colour of gravel and flags, positioning around drains etc). I honestly can’t recommend him highly enough. After dealing with loads of substandard tradespeople in our renovation project, Tony’s team were a breath of fresh air. Decent, honest and hard working. I had this company to lay a new patio and paving all round the house and some turf. I am really pleased with the finished result and the attention to detail.
